Obituary

Lynn Marie Ford, 72, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Arden Courts of Chagrin Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, John R. Ford, on October 30, 2019. Lynn, also known as Marie by many,is survived by her son, Patrick M. Fitzgerald, his wife, Melissa, and two grandchildren, Zachary and Ashlyn Fitzgerald; by her sisters, Linda Budd (Leon), Cherie Thomas, Sidney Penrose (Kevan), and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marie was born April 8, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third of four daughters of the late Mike and Jeanne Churich of Midvale, UT. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in Midvale before attending BYU and the University of Utah. After moving to Xenia, she finished her education at Wright State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in education as well as a master's degree in counseling. Marie dedicated herself to the education of Dayton children as she taught elementary math and science for Dayton Public Schools. She retired after 32 years at DPS.

Marie was an active member of Faith Community United Methodist Church where she volunteered in many roles overmany years including administrative duties and running the blood drive. She and John treasured their many friends and often enjoyed entertaining their wine club, investment club and hosted many card parties.

Marie very much enjoyed lunching and dining out with former teaching colleagues and friends – some, lovingly known as the Ya-Yas. The family is grateful for the support of these friends in the last year of her life.

For three+ years, Marie endured the devastating effects of both Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Through it all, she maintained her humor, positivity and never forgot the people she loved. Marie was an extremely generous, caring and lovingperson who will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Faith Community United Methodist Church, Xenia, with Pastor Jeff Bandy officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Saturday, until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Dr., Xenia, OH, 45385, in her memory.
