Obituary

Mary H. Spitler, 93, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Bethany Lutheran Village. She was born April 15, 1922, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Helen Bailey Hornick. She was a member of St. Brigid Church and was a 1940 graduate of St. Brigid High School. She was a member of the Xenia Adult Recreation Center, Xenia Republican Women's Club, the Homemakers Extension Club (Green Gems), Red Hatters, and the Island X -60th Sea Bees, Ft. Myers, Florida Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, R. Douglas (Kathy) Spitler, Cincinnati, and Gregory B. (Dawn) Spitler, Bellbrook, two grandchildren, Austin James Spitler and Blair Elizabeth Spitler, a sister, Rita (Robert) Weigand, Centerville, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth T. Spitler, on June 17, 1994, four sisters, Jean Marie Feeley, Margaret Ann Fogwell, Dorothy Barborak, and Marjorie McClain, and by two brothers, William M. Hornick and Richard D. "Choppy" Hornick. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 7, at Bellbrook Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A luncheon will follow the graveside services at the Greene County Fair Extension Office, Greene County Fairgrounds, 100 Fairground Rd., Xenia.
