She was born March 28, 1938, in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Florida and Elda Anna VanHoose Lyons. She was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Dayton, and was the owner of Wallen Enterprises. She is survived by her husband, James M. Wallen, whom she married, May 31, 1956, a daughter, Deborah L. Foxbower, Wilmington, two sons, Timothy W. (Lisa) Wallen, and David (Christine) Wallen, all of Xenia, seven grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Wright, Joey (Alison) Wallen, Michael Wallen, Justin (Camden) Wallen, Samantha Wallen, Shelley Foxbower, and Cody Foxbower, four great-grandchildren, Olivia Wright, Parker Wright, Arrianna Wallen, and Lily McHaney, four sisters, Annabelle Puckett, Pikeville, KY, Wanda Peters, Grayson, KY, Linda Spencer, Belleville, MI, and Kaye Hitchcock, Tutor Key, KY, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two sisters, Cora Lee Walters and Faye Preston. Her husband of 60 years was her rock, her true soulmate. She was dedicated to him from the time they were in high school until her last breath. Her family was her world. She was more like a best friend than a grandmother. Nothing made her happier than when all her children and grandkids came over. She loved sewing, coloring in her coloring books, decorating, and singing at her church. She had a personality that was as contagious as her laughter and she made a friend wherever she went. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10am, Monday, April 25, at the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Dayton, with Pastor Hollie J. VanHoose officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, 2405 Harshman Rd., Dayton, OH, 45424, in her memory.
