Philip H. Chitty, 82, of Centerville, formerly of Xenia, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Bethany Lutheran Village. He was born July 21, 1941, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Hugh and Pauline Gordin Chitty. Following seminary, Phil spent 6 years in Israel where he taught school and learned the Hebrew language, which, along with his Greek studies, informed his lifelong study of the Bible and deep passion for Christian ministry work. He was formerly an elder at Christ Community Church, Bellbrook, and director of the Cathodic Protection division at APS Materials, Dayton. He is survived by son, Andrew Chitty; three daughters, Karen (Bryon) Hollenbeck, Karla (J Brett) Davis, and Kristl Mapes; nine grandchildren who always held a special place in his heart and prayers; sister, Janet Holbrook, and sister-in-law, Kathy Chitty; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordin Chitty; and by brother-in-law, Leon Holbrook. Phil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, OH. Visitation will be from 2-4pm followed by a Celebration of Life service from 4-5pm. Graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
