Obituary

Richard William Hupman, 80, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Grandview Hospital, Dayton. He was born September 27, 1936, in Osborn, Ohio, the son of William and Vesta Peterson Hupman. He was a 1954 graduate of Xenia High School, and received his Bachelor's Degree from Wright State University in 1986. Richard retired as an Environmental Planner; Technical Writer with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. He was the last owner of the family run Xenia business, The Camera Shop. The business was started by his uncles, Seward and Don Peterson, in the 1940's and closed in 1978. Richards' hobbies included reading, short story writing and researching the family genealogy. He is survived by two daughters, Kim Hupman, and Cheri (Dale) Dixon, of Xenia, a son, Marc (Becky) Hupman, Tennessee, the mother of his children, Jackie Snodgrass, Xenia, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, by close cousins, Annis Cotes and Diane Guerine, the daughters of Don Peterson and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his second wife, Bonnie (Fudge) Hupman. Memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, October 15th at Blue Jacket Books, 30 S. Detroit St, Xenia from 3 – 6. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greene County Library/Greene County Room funds, 76 E. Market St. Xenia, OH 45385, in his memory.
