Richard P. Middleton, 87, of Xenia, passed away at home on Sunday, February 23, 2025.  He was born on August 19, 1937, in Caesarcreek Township, Greene County, Ohio, the son of B. Paul and M. Jane (Mussetter) Middleton.

Richard is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Sandra S. (Craigie) Middleton.  He is also survived by their children Amy (Donald) Spar, Tracy O'Connor (Chuck Sigmund), Leslie (Kerry) Snyder, Jeremy (Deanna) Middleton, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters Janice Doren, Anita (Boyd) Richey, and Linda Jo Pettiford.

Growing up on a farm at Middleton's Corner, Richard participated in Greene County 4-H and was a proud member of the Xenia High School Band.  He graduated from Xenia Central High School in 1955 and Miami University in 1959. Richard utilized his degree in physics to become a project manager in The Office of the Deputy of Aeronautical Equipment at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) for his entire professional career.

He served his community as a volunteer fireman for Xenia Township North Station #1, beginning in 1965, eventually serving as Fire Chief from December 1978 to 1983. His community involvement extended to serving in various capacities within the First Lutheran Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Xenia.

In his retirement, Richard became an avid woodworker, creating furniture, ornaments, decorative bowls and ice cream scoops for family and friends.
