Richard Henry Sand, 76, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 16, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Howard and Esther Smith Sand. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War, and retired from the military in 1989. He was a volunteer with Interfaith Hospitality Network and St. Vincent de Paul in Xenia.  He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Chavez) Sand, whom he married, July 17, 1969, four daughters, Stephanie (Arthur) Monnin, Laura (Brian) Malin, all of Xenia, Deanna (Jeremy) Middleton, Portland, OR, and Kathryn (Will) Campbell, Virginia, grandchildren: Katelyn, AJ, Jacob, Tyler, Reese, Addison, Grayson, Ryley and Payton Grace, a sister, Anita (Gil) O'Gara, Des Moines, IA, two brothers, Ron (Peg) Sand, Texas, and Duane (Marilyn) Sand, Iowa, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Richard's life for the public will be held on Friday December 14th starting at noon until 2:30 at AHOP church, 282 Shelton Road, lunch will be provided for all. Everyone is welcome to the service at Queen of Apostles, 4435 E. Patterson Rd, Beavercreek at 3:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Interfaith Hospitality Network, 124 S.
