Robert I. Eakins, Sr., 75, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at his residence. He was born January 24, 1940, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Howard E. and Helen Kirk Eakins. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War and retired from General Motors. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Babe" (Evans) Eakins, whom he married January 28, 1967, five children, BeNita (Bobby) Pritchard, Brenda Perkins, Bruce (Becky) Eakins, David (Lynette) Eakins, and Robert (Amy) Eakins, Jr., eight grandchildren, Taryn, Emily, Elizabeth, Hali, Kelsi, Tonnya, Patrick and Cody, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Joanne Mays, a sister-in-law, Doris Eakins, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Raymond Ellinger, and by a brother, Delbert Wayne Eakins. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, November 3, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Keith Little officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am Tuesday until service time. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
