Obituary

Robert W. Geyer, 91, of Xenia, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Hospitality Home East. He was born July 14, 1923, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of George D., Sr. and Freda M. Grottendick Geyer. He was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He was the former owner of Geyer's Restaurant and Geyer's Office Supply and was a lifelong Xenia business and community leader. He was a 2008 recipient of the Xenia Educational Endowment Fund Hall of Honor Award and was an avid Xenia High School athletic fan. He was a founding member of Pinecrest Swim Club, a founding member of the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Fairborn Rotary Club, a volunteer with the GMH Auxiliary, a volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force (Wright Patterson) for over 10 years, a longtime member of the United States Trotting Association (USTA), and was a recipient of the Ohio High School Athletic Association's "Volunteer of the Year" award. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Neal) Geyer, whom he married, March 1, 1947, three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert N. (Kathy) Geyer, Richard W. Geyer, and Ronald D. (Renee) Geyer, all of Xenia, four grandchildren, Greg (Delana) Geyer, Ryan (Raif Aziz) Geyer, Dawn (Christopher) Coleman, and Richard (Krystal) Geyer, eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Nolan, Anniston, Emerson Kate, Paul, Isabella, Mia, and Gabby, a brother and sister-in-law, George D. "Bud" Geyer, Jr. (Jane), Xenia, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Miriam G. Yeakley Dallas and William Yeakley and Donald Dallas. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, November 11, at Faith Community United Methodist Church, Xenia, with Rev. Rick Tettau officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Tuesday, until service time at the church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
