Robert L. Smith, 94, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born October 6, 1921, in East Canton, Ohio, the son of Ronald and Maude Sherer Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He retired from WPAFB. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. (Rosy) Smith, Costa Rica, daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (CW) Spencer, Ft. Thomas, KY, two grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Walls, Calhoun, GA, and Matt (Jayne) Spencer, Tampa, FL, two great-grandchildren, Savannah Hensley, Calhoun, GA,  and Elizabeth Stelley, Alpharetta, GA, a great-great-grandson, Cash Moore, Alpharetta, GA, four sisters, Gladys Bishop and Doris Crumpton, of Battle Creek, MI, Janet (Ray) Lockhart, Patterson, NY, and Joyce (Jerry) Putman, Rockford, IL, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby E. Smith, on August 6, 2011, a sister, Thelma Dunham, a brother, Dwain Smith, and by two grandchildren, Mark Spencer and Jami Spencer. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 1pm, Thursday, May 26, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Russ Noss officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon, until service time. Burial will be in Shiloh Park Cemetery, Dayton.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL, 60693, in his memory.
