Obituary

Rodney E. Grimes, 82, of Xenia, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Hospitality Center for Rehab and Healing. He was born July 31, 1935, in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Florence Hedding Grimes. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War, and was a member of American Legion Post # 598, Kettering.  He was the former owner of Grimes Plumbing, Waynesville. He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. (Coon) Collinsworth Grimes, whom he married, August 3, 2001,  the wife of his children, Ruth (Larry) Doty, Camden, a son, Dale Edward (Linda) Grimes, Millville, a daughter, Threasa (David) Croy, Trenton, stepdaughters, Pamela (Ian) Maydew, Surprise, AZ,, and Julie Collinsworth (Chato) Denton, of Xenia, a step-son, Alan (Dianne) Whitehead, Kettering, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister, Kay March, Kettering, a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce E. (Marie) Grimes, Safety Harbor, Fl, and by several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, a son, Donald Eugene Grimes, a step-daughter, Dawn (Collinsworth) Farley, and by a brother, Gerhardt Grimes. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to 4 Paws for Ability, 253 Dayton Ave., Xenia, OH, 45385, North Side Christian Church Food Pantry, 733 Country Club Dr., Xenia, OH, 45385, or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, in his memory.
