Roger Lee Dodds, 77, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born January 10, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Edith Myrtle Snyder Dodds. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the former Chief of Police for Harveysburg. He was a member of the Massie Township Fire Department and was involved in the Youth Club in Harveysburg. He was a member of American Legion Post, # 615, Waynesville, and VFW Post # 1646, Harveysburg. He retired from General Motors. He is survived by his wife, Janet Arlene (Ellis) Dodds, whom he married, July 19, 2004, two daughters, Robyn Newton, Miamisburg, and Rayshella Dodge, Bellbrook, a step-daughter, Darla Dodge, St. Petersburg, FL, step-son, Darin (Theresa) Dodge, Waynesville, by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters, Effie (Ralph) Dodds Kerns, Xenia, and Ruth (Walter) Dodds Hildebrecht, Waynesville, a brother, Robert Dodds, Berea, KY, a sister-in-law, Trudy Dodds, Alaska, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Dodds Secrist, and by a brother, Bill Dodds. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, May 11, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
