Ronald R. Johannes, 78, of Xenia, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 4, 1946 in Beavercreek Twp, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Martha Funk Johannes. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War stationed in Addis Abba, Ethiopia for two and a half years. As a child, he attended Oldtown United Methodist Church. He then transferred to Union Methodist Church where he held various positions on the board. Ronnie was involved in numerous community groups: Greene County Farm Forum (Past President), Greene County Fair Board, and an alumni of Greene County FFA Alumni. Ronnie was a lifelong Greene County farmer who loved collecting toy tractors. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Nancy (VanTress)Johannes of 58 years, whom he met at 4-H camp in 1957.Together, they built a beautiful life with their son, Keith (Angel) Johannes and their daughter, Deanna (Nor) Sika. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Hannah (Alex) Crowe, Page (Anthony) Osburn, and Camille Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Lincoln, McChord, and Ridge; three sisters, Imogene Dice, Jenny Sagers, and Martha Jane Beegle; two brothers, William "Bill" (Jeanette) Johannes and Rick (Linda) Johannes, and by several nieces and nephews and many close friends, including man's best friend Sally and Gigi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Marlene Randall. Ronnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, August 14 at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St. Xenia. Services will be held at 10amon Thursday, August 15 with Pastor Dar Hensley officiating. Burial will be held at Valley View Memorial Gardens. Following the burial there will be a meal and fellowship at the Fairgrounds dining hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Union Methodist Church, 1038 Union Rd, Xenia, OH 45385, or to Greene County Farm Forum Scholarship Fund, c/o Ann Byrd, 1566 Beaverbrook Dr, Beavercreek, OH 45432 in his memory.
