Ruby Rector, 87, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023,  at Legacy Assisted Living. She was born August 10. 1936, in Greene County, Ohio, the daughter of S.S. and Virginia DeHaven Matthews. She was a 1954 graduate of Spring Valley High School, a member of Xenia United Presbyterian Church, a member of Greene County Homemakers, and retired from the Xenia Community Schools Central Office after 40 years employment. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles C. Rector, on November 23, 1995, a son, Daniel Lee Rector, and by three brothers, Roger Matthews (her twin), Bobby Matthews, and Phillip Matthews. She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Thad) Smith, Xenia, a granddaughter, Ella A. Smith, a grandson, Aaron D. Smith, a brother, Richard D. (Shirley) Matthews, Jamestown, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. Ruby will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Private services will be held by the family in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
