Ruth A. Washburn Simmons, 93, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday June 7, 2022 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. She was born August 24. 1928, in Burtonville, Ohio, the daughter of Warde and Marie Jackson Washburn. She was a member of Grace Community Church, and the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Tom, Gary, Leenatta, John, Linda, stepson, Ray Simmons, South Solon, a brother, William Washburn, Fairborn, by several  grandchildren, great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Green Simmons, Jr., on January 3, 1991, by daughter Jeannie, son Jim, by a step-daughter, Ina Belle Thrash, and by two sisters Betty Cunningham and Marjorie Jean Washburn, brother Richard Washburn and 3 good friends Kay Boyd, Doris Adkins and Diane Schnell. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, June 9, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Simmons Cemetery, Sandy Hook, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
