Samuel J. Stroup, 58, of Spring Valley, Ohio passed away Friday, October 22nd, 2021, at Soin Medical Center. He was born in Nuremberg, Germany on October 23rd, 1962 the son of James and Wilma (Boerner) Stroup. He volunteered with the Spring Valley Township Fire Department for 15 years and was a member of New Burlington Masonic Lodge #574. He had a successful career spanning over 25 years as a Golf Course Superintendent, winning the MVGCSA Golf Course Superintendent of the Year Award in 2009, and was currently employed at Dodds Memorials in Xenia, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Stroup, and his mother-in-law, Georgia (Gaffin) Blythe. He is survived by his wife, Debby (Blythe) Stroup, whom he married on September 21st, 1985, two sons, Zachery (Amanda) and Cory (Malissa) Stroup, four grandchildren, Abigail, Ava, Olivia, and Aiden Stroup, mother, Wilma (Boerner) Stroup, father-in-law, Lawrence Blythe, two sisters, Jenifer (Travis) Lansing and Shery (Billy) Baker, sister-in-law, Rita (Robert) Glaser, nieces, Jennifer (Brian) Vandergriff, Jessica (Dustin) Orner, Julie (Marcus) Lehman, and Alysa Snell (Dagny Barga), and nephew Tahner Snell (Kaili Deck), along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many close friends.

He enjoyed building things, traveling, camping trips to Kentucky, and spending time with friends and family. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Neeld Funeral Home in Xenia, Ohio on Thursday October 28 ^th , 2021 from 5-8 PM with a memorial service beginning at 7:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sam's name to a charity of your choosing.
