Obituary

Shana Kay (Elam) LaShomb, 48, of Springboro, formerly of Xenia, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her residence. She was born on August 5, 1977, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Donald and Gwendolyn Bergman Elam. She is survived by her husband, Shawn Donald LaShomb, her father, Donald Elam, her children, Emma LaShomb and Benjamin LaShomb, three brothers, David (Carla) Elam, Doug (Tracy) Elam, and her biological brother Scott (Lisa) Malott, and sister, Cindi (Rusty) Blake, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. Shana enjoyed her time volunteering with Centerville City Schools when the kids were younger, along with taking great pride in working for Westerville Dermatology in Columbus, Ohio before and after getting married in 2005. In addition, she was extremely grateful to be a stay-at-home mother to the kids until she passed. Shana was an amazing daughter, sister, friend, mother and wife, in addition to being the best "fur-kid" parent there ever was to Ella, Darby, and Claire, her three beloved dogs. Other interests included streaming different TV series shows, trips to TARGET, Starbucks and IKEA, along with taking family vacations and solo trips by herself with the kids. She often said that she enjoyed seeing her favorite band, Coldplay, in concert the most in Auburn Hills, MI in August of 2012 was the best birthday present. Ever.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the following people who have gone above and beyond helping Shana with this journey: Suzie Lloyd, Erika Bierley, Jupiter Creed, Anna Russell, Jennifer and Bryon Jopson along with Jesse and Tina Carter. Crossroads Hospice promised and delivered to Shana what she requested, to pass away at her home, surrounded by those that loved her. We cannot forget our outstanding neighbors in Settlers Walk and GEA FHT NAM (Shawn's employer) for supporting Shana & the whole family for the past 12 years during this journey, without blinking an eye.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gwen Elam. Shana will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Tuesday, September 2, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St. Xenia. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, September 3, in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center in Washington Township, Ohio in her memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com.
