(Lang) Barber

Shirley Ann (Lang) Barber, 96, of Xenia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Forest Glen of Springfield. She was born on December 30, 1929, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Fred and Helen Strathman Lang.
A lifelong resident of Xenia, Shirley graduated from Xenia Central High School in 1947 and the University of Miami in 1951. She was a devoted member of Xenia United Presbyterian Church and an active participant in the many Xenia civic organizations. For many years, she was employed at Lang's Chevrolet, where she was known for her dedication and pride in the family business.
Shirley is survived by her daughterinlaw, Judith Manola (Frank); her soninlaw, David Barber; two nephews, Todd Lang (Tami Johnson) and Brad Lang (Linda Ulrich); her niece, Heather Lang Kitchen (Jack); and many cherished friends, including her dear friend Betty Jordan and the good folks at the United Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Henrietta Gruber Lang; her husband, James Barber, who passed away on November 4, 2003; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard Lang (Judy); and a sister-in-law, Lucille Barber.
Shirley will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and loyalty to the people she loved. She was a lifelong resident of Xenia and took great pride in her community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Xenia United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., Xenia, with Rev. Mike Wakeland officiating. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service.
