Sonja K. Peterson, 82, of Spring Valley, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at Kettering Post Acute Care, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 25, 1943, in Greene County, Ohio, Sonja was the daughter of John V. and Lucille Drummond Starr. She carried their legacy forward with grace, warmth, and a deep devotion to family. Sonja found joy in life's simple pleasures—especially baking her famous apple pies and oatmeal raisin cookies, which became treasured traditions for those lucky enough to taste them.

She is survived by her loving children, John R. (Kendra) Peterson and Amy Curry; her adored grandchildren, Shular Barker, Cheyenne (Hunter) Peterson, Sherman Curry and her precious great-grandson, Rowan Barker; and her beloved sister, Linda Overturf and her niece Theresa (Darin) Dodge. Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew.

Sonja's gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and quiet strength touched the lives of many. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire love and connection.
