Obituary

Sue Ann (Blocher) Orihood was born November 10, 1949 to Elmer and Charlene Blocher; married to Joe Orihood on August 24, 1968, left this life on October 4, 2021. Survived by brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Di Blocher; nephew and niece, Kyle and Emily Blocher; niece and nephew-to-be, Shelby Blocher and Pierson Grant; more family by love: Amanda Wallace, and Lucas Chard and his wife, Danielle; Aunt Orm and Aunt Jean; several cousins (especially Julie who held her hand till the end); so many friends (especially her childhood friend. Linda, and her pal, Dolly); and her "girls": Peaches, Abby, Dolly, and Lady. But these words don't define Sue: she was so much more,

Think of a gentle breeze stirring a sunlit patch of daisies along a curving, country road. They were her favorite flowers, her wedding flowers. Think of a head thrown back in deep laughter and hear the joy and contentment in living a simple, country life with family and friends just down the road. Think of her warm hugs, giggles, and tireless patience as she guided Kyle and Lucas from the cradle to adulthood. Think of the southwestern turquoise jewelry she daily wore, enjoying its natural beauty and spark in even her humdrum chores. Think of her hands with crookedy fingers that would fearlessly tackle any task. Hers were busy hands: knitting, canning, sewing, making Christmas ornaments and cookies, chasing away raccoons, tending her flowers and vegetables. Think of bouncing, barking dogs colliding with scampering, purring kittens wrapped around "The Crazy Cat Lady's" legs, competing for attention, knowing that they were family, knowing they had "forever love", "forever home". Think of her gentle, almost shy voice offering Grandpa's grace at family meals. Think of her firm, no-nonsense voice always offering hope, common sense, and promises of happy endings. Think of her heart which beat with compassion, trying to comfort, help, and embrace family, friends, and as many cast-off pets as possible.

If you can think those thoughts, then you have a glimpse into Sue, and you can begin to understand how much she meant to us, how we loved her, and how thankful we are that God put her in our lives.

"Home" is where Sue was happiest. Now she's really home, but our lives are more shallow, less colorful, and shaken without her. She was the North Star who helped us find our way.

Her family will say their private good-byes together. Sue would be pleased if any gifts be given to HALO (an animal rescue site) 3346 Jasper Rd, Xenia, OH, 45385, in her memory. Messages may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
