Valerie Carol Strickland, 65, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at her residence. She was born November 11, 1952, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Donald Eugene and Ruth Ann Buttermore Guyton, Sr.  She retired from the Fred J. Miller Company. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Ann Guyton, Xenia, children, Gary (Dawn) Strickland, Forest Park, Jennifer Strickland (Chad Livingston), Xenia, and Chris Strickland (Becca Day), Jamestown, 7 grandchildren, Nichole Day, Olivia Day, Matthew Kruetzkamp, Nathan Kruetzkamp, Jackson Livingston, Bryce Day, and Brody Day, sisters, Mary Jane (David) Strickland and Joyce (David) Wilson, brothers, Steven (Kristina) Guyton, and Robert (Suellen) Guyton, several nieces and nephews, Jessica (Michael) Barnes, Maryland, Amanda (Rich) Clayton, Colin (Mieko) Matheny and Elizabeth (Tom) Comer, all of Xenia, Stephanie (Andrew) Eldridge, Fairborn, Karen (Stephen) Uchmanowicz, Virginia, David (Nicole) Guyton, New Jersey, Joey (Jessica) Strickland, Kentucky, Emily (Lee) Akers, Texas, and Allison Strickland, North Carolina, by several great-nieces and great-nephews that she loved very much, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, and by a brother, Donald Eugene "Ougie" Guyton, Jr. Valerie was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend who inspired and loved all those she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Valerie's life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, July 21, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 10am Saturday, until service time. Graveside services will be held in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, following the memorial service.
