Vickie Sue Johnson of Jamestown, OH went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 29 th , 2023.
Vickie was born June 27, 1949, in Dallas Texas , the daughter of Paul Ford and Leland Odessa (McGinnis) Duffee. After her birth, the family relocated to Churubusco, Indiana and later to Burlington, Iowa where Vickie would graduate from Burlington High School. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972, and went on to obtain her Masters Degree from IUPU Fort Wayne. Vickie married Tim Johnson on August 15, 1970. Vickie and Tim were members of Merriam Christian Chapel in Albion, Indiana before helping to establish Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco. She and her husband are members of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church. She taught Music at Churubusco Elementary, Jr. High and High School. Upon relocating to Cedarville, Ohio, she continued to share her love of music by teaching at Xenia Christian, Heritage Christian, and Nazarene Christian Schools as well as by teaching private piano during those years. She was especially excited to have her granddaughter, Liliana, as one of her piano students. Throughout this time, she cherished opportunities to encourage her local church through her piano playing during worship. She loved to worship her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Glenda Womack. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Lindsey (Abraham) Vivas, Jamestown, three grandchildren, Liliana, Lucy Grace, and Layla, a sister Donna Duffee of Lees Summit, Missouri, and by nieces and nephews, Mark (Amy) Womack of Cedarville, Ohio, Carla (Todd) LeMaster of Jamestown, and Marcia Womack of Churubusco, Indiana. Michael (Catherine) Stephens of Lees Summit, Ryan Stephens of Lees Summit, and Jason (Erica) Stephens of Overland Park, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, at Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, 3490 Jasper Rd., Jamestown, OH on Thursday, February 2, 2023. A memorial service be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10 AM at Shawnee Hills Baptist Church with a burial to follow the service at North Cemetery in Cedarville.
The family would like to publicly thank ProMedica of Kettering and Hospice of Dayton for caring and supporting her and her family in her last days. We would also like to thank the Cancer Treatment Centers of America for lovingly providing holistic treatment since 2012.
