Wanda Margene Hargrave, age 81, of Xenia, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, with family by her side, on Monday, September 17, 2018.
She was the daughter of George E. Meddock and Ruth L. McChesney Meddock.
She was born on October 17, 1936, in Bowersville, Ohio.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard E. Hargrave, whom she married on July 31, 1955, in Bowersville, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon A. Steiner of Lewis Center, Ohio; her son Steven E. and his wife Elizabeth "Beth" Hargrave of Roswell, Georgia; two grandchildren, Matthew D. Steiner of Grove City, Ohio, and Emma G. Hargrave of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister, Eileen Richardson of Jamestown, Ohio; plus many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in Bowersville in 1954.
She started her career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio, and then took a break to raise Steven and Sharon. She began working as the Secretary to the Principal at Greeneview Elementary and Junior High School until 1980 and then went back to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, from there she retired.
She lived in Alameda Isles in Englewood, Florida, in the winter and enjoyed spending time with the extended family at the park.
She loved watching The Ohio State University Football. Her favorite thing was halftime and TBDBIL. She loved going on trips with the Senior Center and playing Euchre. She loved playing cards and Capital Travelers.
She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Friends may call at the North Side Christian Church, 733 Country Club Drive, Xenia, Ohio from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2018.
Services will also be held at the North Side Christian Church on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM followed by interment in the Bowersville Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com.
