Wayne A. Fugate, 80, of Springboro, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Kettering Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1941, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Leila Housman Fugate. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a former officer with the Mattoon, Illinois Police Department, and retired as head of security at General Motors. He is survived by his children, Annie (Chet) Hannah, Mississippi, Tammy Fugate, Germantown, Wendy (Tim) Fleck, Elkhart, IN, and Duane (Loretta) Fugate, Tennessee, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister, Sandy McCaw, a brother, Joseph (Shirley) Fugate, Springfield, sister-in-law, Ruth Brown, Grand Rapids, MI, a brother-in-law, Joe (Lois) Lykins, Hazel Green, KY, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Deloris J. (Lykins) Fugate on January 18, a daughter, Sherri Lynn Fugate, three sisters, Donna Williams, Jean Ratcliff, and Loubelle Stapleton, and by a brother Frank Fugate. Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
