Wilbur Truman, 79, of Xenia, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, went Home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 19, 2014, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1935, in Jamestown, Ohio, the son of Ernest and Ethel Allen Truman. He grew up in the Jamestown and Xenia areas and lived in Xenia his entire adult life. He enlisted in the United States Army, along with his twin brother, Willard, at the age of 17, and served for three years. After serving in the military, he worked at Hooven and Allison and the Morris Bean Co., and retired from Navistar in Springfield in July 1997, where he worked for 26 years. He also worked as a skilled painter for the Dayton Painters Union for a number of years. He was a regular coffee drinker at Perkins Restaurant, was an avid golfer, and was a member of Locust Hills Golf Course where he had 2 "Holes-in-One". At Locust Hills, he regularly played in the Hunter's group which was formed in the mid-80's by Rod Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Lou (Camp) Truman, in 2007, by two brothers, Everett Truman, and his twin, Willard Truman, and by two sisters, Jenny Sizemore and Ruby Creekbaum. He is survived by three daughters, Shelley (Bill) Moody, Sherry (Gary) Johnson, and Marcy Stuckey (Bill Perdue), eight grandchildren, Morgan (Dillon) Anderson, Taylor Craft, Brianna Johnson, Sierra Moody, Kaylee Whetstone, Gage, Hunter, and Macy Stuckey, a great-granddaughter, Raelynn Jamason, two sisters, Mary Louise Turley and Marjorie Kyle, a brother, Ernie Collins, a sister-in-law, Clara Truman, several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. Wilbur enjoyed watching his grandchildren take over his space and treasures from his recliner. He was saved in June 2002, and all of his children and grandchildren came to the pond behind Freedom Baptist Church to see him baptized. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, September 24, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 9:30am Wednesday, until service time.
