"Bill" Diamond, Jr.
November 18, 1925 – April 26, 2016
William Albert Diamond, Jr. ("Bill"), age 90 of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. Bill was born November 18, 1925 in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late William Albert Diamond and Audra Diamond. Proudly serving his country during World War II, Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Dayton Power and Light Company, where he was employed for 35 years, including as a lineman and various management positions. Bill was a President of the Helmsmen's Club at DP&L, a former President of the Xenia Lions' Club and a member of the Xenia Elks' Lodge for over 60 years. Always the sports fan, Bill was a longtime season ticket holder and one of the most faithful of the "Flyer Faithful" supporting University of Dayton Basketball. He always enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds, history and every sport or activity involving his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years Nancy (Lemon) Diamond; daughters, Susan (John) Faulkner, Debbie (Nick) Kriss; siblings, Gwen Tonne and Gary Chapman; grandchildren, Ryan Faulkner, Reade (Jaime) Faulkner, Jonathan (Kinsey) Faulkner, Tara (Miles) Forman, Emily Kriss, Joseph (Natalie) Kriss, and Alex (Ashley) Kriss; great-grandchildren, Lauren Faulkner, Jackson Faulkner, Chloe Forman, Mick Forman, Hamilton Forman, Henry Faulkner, Della Faulkner and Gavin Kriss.
Bill was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Kriss; and siblings, Melvin Diamond, Vera Simmons, Mary Maxine Brandel, Ruth Pflanzer, Wilda Baer and John Diamond.
Visitation with the family will occur between the hours of 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, May 8, at Neeld Funeral Home, Xenia, Ohio. A memorial celebration will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 9, at Neeld Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, JDRF or Garden of Hope care of the Kettering Medical Center Foundation.
