William Raymond "Bill" Tonne, 93 of Xenia, passed away July 7, 2024, at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs. He was born August 28, 1930, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the son of Valentine Raymond and Alberta Henke Tonne. He was a graduate and proud athlete of Lawrenceburg Consolidated High School, and loved sharing the illustrious stories of his football and basketball career there. He retired from General Motors, and spent his later years playing cards with Gwen and their friends at the Spring Valley Senior Center. Though in the last few years dementia robbed us of the father we once knew, every now and then he surprised us with a funny quip to let us know he was still there. He is survived by his children, Bill (Betty) Tonne, Barbara (Mark) Daims, Diana (Larry) Mason, Melissa (Bill) McKinney, Kim (Eric) Prindle, Janet (Thomas) Weibel, Phil Tonne, Steve (Rebecca) Tonne, and Keeli (Kevin) Fox; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Riddell and Bernadette Wilkerson; cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marilyn on May 2,1991, his second wife Gwedolyn on August 24, 2023; his step-children Bruce Lemon and Leslie Lemon; sisters Mary Dawson, Theresa Jackson; and brothers Eugene, John, Robert and Charles Tonne. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bill's family is especially thankful for the wonderful caregivers he had at home and at the Friends Care Center. Viewing will be Sunday, July 14, 5-7 pm at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St, Xenia, and the funeral service will be at 10am, Monday July 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin, OH.
