Obituary

William Glen Merriman, Jr., 88, of Xenia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 2, 1934, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of William Glen and Georgia (Luttrell) Merriman, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Xenia Central High School. He retired from Sheffield/Bendix Corp. in Dayton after 31 years of employment. However, his most cherished position was serving 52 years as a pastor with the United Methodist Church, in various churches throughout Southwest Ohio.  He is survived by his wife Janet (Hendee) Merriman, whom he married, July 23, 1952, a daughter, Jeanie (Neil) Gilmore, Wilmington, a son Jerry (Cyndi) Merriman, Xenia, Four grandchildren, Julie (Tim) Kelley, Liberty, IN, Jared (Liz ) Merriman, Jamestown, Phillip (Kristy) Gilmore, West Carrollton and Becky (Matthew) Labadie, Kettering, four great-grandchildren, Coleton, Makenna, James, and Lyla, two sisters Patricia (Russel) Harris, Xenia, Sue (Paul) Morris, Xenia, two brothers Thomas (Janet) Merriman, Xenia, and Charles (Joyce) Merriman, Lynchburg, by several nieces and nephews and by many close friends. Bill passionately enjoyed attending and supporting his children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed playing golf, was an avid reader and filled many hours assembling jigsaw puzzles. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Monday, November 21, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N Detroit St., Xenia. Private graveside services will be held in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, or to Richland Methodist Church, 52 Melvin Rd., Wilmington, OH, 45177, in his memory.
